What's in Our Boys' Lunchboxes: Easy Lunch Ideas for Kids
Share
Our boys are two and four. We typically take our Sol lunchboxes on days when we're travelling, when we're out and about, and to Playcentre, and they take a packed lunch in their Sol Lunchboxes.
We keep it simple. This is what usually goes in.
A sandwich
Sourdough with salad and cheese, or egg.
Fruit
Usually mango, apple, kiwi fruit or blueberries.
Dried fruit
Dried apricots and raisins.
Pea puffs
We use Serious Pea Puff Snacks in sea salt. There are four ingredients: pea flour, corn, coconut oil and sea salt. No seed oils, which is why we chose them. You can find them at Woolworths.
A little treat
Our boys (and Ryan & I) love Walkers shortbread as a little sweet treat here and there. They only have four ingredients: flour, butter, sugar and salt, which is a huge difference to most of the other ones in the market, which have 10+ ingredients, including seed oils
Why our Sol Lunchbox works for us
It has three built-in compartments, so the sandwich, fruit and snacks each have their own spot and nothing needs wrapping. It's 304 stainless steel, and the box goes in the dishwasher.
A few more ideas
If you're after more to rotate through, these are easy ones:
- Leftover homemade pizza
- Pasta salad with peas, corn and grated cheese
- Cheese scones
- A boiled egg with crackers and cheese
- Cucumber and carrot sticks
- Thick Greek yoghurt with berries
The Sol Lunchbox also works for travel, work or days out, so it's not just for little ones.
If you need breakfast ideas too, here's what our boys eat for breakfast.
A quick note: this is not qualified health or diet advice. These are ideas and what works for our family, and hoping to share inspiration with other families.
